Antique shop celebrates new digs
One of Charleston’s finest antique shops, Wynsum Antiques and Interiors, celebrated the opening of their second location at 903 Houston Northcutt Blvd. in Mount Pleasant with a May 13 ribbon-cutting. Chamber Executive Director Rebbeca Imholz led the celebration. Joining her were Town Council members, as well as Chamber Ambassadors and other Town officials.
Owner and architect, John Palmer has operated the original downtown store at 648 King Street since 2017 and is thrilled to have curated another space that welcomes interior designers, antique collectors and everyday customers wanting one-of-a-kind treasures. “For eight years, Wynsum Downtown has offered patrons fine antiques such as early European and American furniture, elegant lighting, paintings for old masters, contemporary works by living artists and everything in-between” says Palmer. “With this concept in mind, we have assembled another amazing space filled with unique furnishings and decor, lighting, modern and traditional art, and distinctive gifts. We also have a fine selection of estate jewelry, silver, rugs and objects for the garden.”
Similar to the downtown store, Wynsum Mount Pleasant houses a collective of 30 individual dealers, hand-picked by Palmer to offer local customers exquisite items for their homes, gardens and businesses. One vendor, Carroll Neville of Southern Exposure, specializes in high-end art and antiques with an emphasis on the classic sporting lifestyle reminiscent of a well-appointed English hunting lodge. Lori Bate, the owner of The Wren Home sources her pieces from all over the world, including porcelain from Portugal, ceramics from Turkey, cashmere and blown glass from Italy, textiles from Mexico and wrought-iron pieces from here in South Carolina. Julien Libaire of Windward Antiques offers a collection of antique maritime paintings and nautical pieces that tell the rich history of life on the coast.
